Love

 Love

Love stands tall in its littleness

Casting a long shadow in the hall

Lit by a bulb yellowed by age

Proving all great things are small.

Love lies mute in silence

Words long failed life’s main aim

Just crumbs of care left behind

Love calls out the pilgrims name.

Love awakes before the dawn

Before the birds greet early light

Love pours the oil and tends the wick

That comforts lost souls through the night

In the end we melt and fade

The gravestone marks our spot

Where love has lived but never dies

Around love’s grave - forget me nots.
